Sweet n' Sassy Sweet Stop challenge #194

I am entering this card in the Sweet n' Sassy Sweet Stop Challenge this week - it is a card sketch with a spin - and the spin is SNOWMAN.  You can find details of their challenge HERE.  As you can imagine, a snowman is a very foreign concept to us here in Australia at this time of year, as we spend our time at the beach, in the pool, or generally basking in the sun - or on the other side of the coin, battling bush fires and coping with the loss and destruction caused by them.  But I do have a daughter who lives with her family in Wisconsin, so know what fun winter can be in the Northern Hemisphere, and how much her little girls love to make snowmen (as I did growing up in England).  So here is my take on the sketch - I can't get away from bolder colours, I'm sorry about that!  The images are from Gina K designs, 'Snow One Like You' stamp set, and this is the first time I have used it.  I love the bird house, as I remember our neighbour in Surrey, who had a bird house in her Broom bush, and the little robins who used the safe haven it provided during winter.  Hope you like my project!  Thank you for stopping by.

    Cute Mum. The girls always enjoy your cards... especially their Valentine card which arrived today! We are hoping for some snow overnight so they can get out and make a snowman this weekend, but so far all we've had is cold cold cold. Not a lot of playing outdoors since our Christmas break.

Something Shiny

We all love shiny things I think, so this week's challenge at Less is More is a JOY!  Here is my card, which will add to my Christmas stash. Hard to see the shine, but the next view might be better. I die cut the Joy to the World Wreath by Cheery Lyn, and inlaid it back into the white card front.  It seems to suit the CAS style better this way.  The shiny sentiment is cut from silver mirror card, mounted to self adhesive foam - as you can see in the shiny photo - no messy glue to spoil the effect! While visiting the LIM blog, I realised that my card would also qualify for the current  Muse challenge.   This is the first time I have entered, so here are their rules: Use  the inspiration card as a starting point - strictly speaking, I found my card fits the criteria after I had made it, but the links are - metallic sentiment, scattered berries, and a stitched border to frame the panel. Words, words and more words ...

I don't know what it is about the latest challenge # 191 at Less is More  this week, but each morning I have woken with a new idea in my head.  I will, however, only be entering this first card, but I had fun trying to make my ideas work.  I failed miserably with my final idea this morning, which was to use my Portrait (very new and I have no idea of graphics!!) to create a design which resembled the iPhone app called Word Storm.  I did manage to create an octagon, then a border around it, and then the 8 sections, but when I added the small octagon in the centre, I realised I still did not know how to remove the crossed lines in the centre shape.  Oh dear, back to the drawing board, or to the internet to search for lessons, but I had fun trying to solve my problems.  If anyone reading this could point me in the right direction for good lessons, I would be most grateful.
